Shawn and I purchased a dozen newborn chicks last month. We thought it would be a great learning experience for Celeste! They've been so fun to take care of and watch peck and scratch around the yard. The best thing is when one catches an insect and all the other chicks chase after the one with the "goods". They act just like little kids. Celeste has lovingly named her chicks, Grammy, Poppy, Aunt Lindsey, Uncle Chad, Aunt Sarah, Lucy and The Three Bears. Yesterday I caught her carrying around one of the chicks like it was her baby and the day before that I found her giving one of our chicks a ride on her bike. She loves "her chicks" as she calls them. Trevor also enjoys watching the chicks and tries to hold them too. It gives me flash backs of the book Of Mice and Men - Trevor starring as Lenny. They should be laying eggs for us by the end of August.
